Measurement Campaign in Madrid Metro

In October 2023, TNO, in partnership with Metro De Madrid, conducted a one-week comprehensive measurement campaign at Gregorio Marañon and Feria de Madrid stations. We utilised sophisticated equipment to sample airborne particles across various size fractions, including the nanoscale, to analyse brake wear. Real-time particle monitors and personal sampling equipment, on TNO colleagues that travelled the metro lines, provided valuable insights into PM concentration variability and exposure. This data is critical for evaluating brake retrofit solutions within the VERA project.
