Brake wear emissions in Amsterdam

In February 2024, TNO carried out a comprehensive measurement campaign at the Amsterdam Bus Terminal, in partnership with the Municipality of Amsterdam. We employed a stationary site for detailed air sampling and real-time monitoring, specifically targeting brake wear from bus traffic. Importantly, we also equipped GVB employees with personal measurement devices to accurately assess their exposure to particulate matter. These samples will be analysed to determine the brake wear fraction, providing valuable data for our ongoing research.
