VERA partners at EuroBrake 2026
We are very proud to highlight three key presentations stemming directly from the VERA project:
- EB2026-EFA-019: Development of brake retrofit solutions for PCs and LCVs – Final Takeaways from the VERA Project
- EB2026-RWB-004: Performance evaluation of an active mitigation measure for reducing airborne brake particle emissions in a metro system
- EB2026-EFA-020: Long‑term analysis (2050 horizon) of the impact of onboard brake‑particle emission reduction systems applied to suburban rail networks
Beyond these dedicated VERA sessions, our consortium partners delivered at least 10 additional technical presentations across the event from their other research activities. And furthermore, the VERA coordinator LAT/AUTH and partner Emisia, have received two awards for their contributions to last year’s EuroBrake 2025, based on other activities on brake emissions: the Harald Abendroth Award for the best written paper and the outstanding paper award on regulatory and sustainability impact, respectively for the following contributions:
- EB2025-TSD-017: Measurement and characterization of brake particle emissions of a passenger car in extended range of driving conditions
- EB2025-EFA-020: How effective the collection of particles is for reducing the non-exhaust emission footprint of road transport? An LCA and CBA analysis for EU light-duty vehicles and fleets
This huge footprint at EuroBrake 2026 demonstrates:
- Immense expertise and background: The high partner presence showed the consortium represented the absolute best of research in non-exhaust and brake emissions.
- Commitment to technological excellence: Partners excelled in all development steps, from theoretical modelling to designing and validating real-world systems.
- Direct policy feedback: By bridging academia, industry, and regulators, our findings can provide critical insights to shape future frameworks like Euro 7.
- Impact on the entire transport sector: From cars and vans to metros and rail networks, partners covered the entire ecosystem to improve urban air quality.
- Long-term creativity: The consortium has the background and future insight to ensure today's solutions remain sustainable for years to come.
