Modelling airborne brake wear particle transport in subway systems: A line-scale framework

In this paper, we present a 1D transport model to evaluate indoor air quality across an entire subway line (Madrid Metro Line 1). Incorporating real train dynamics, ventilation schedules, among others, the model tracks spatial and temporal particulate emissions generated by mechanical braking. We utilise this framework to assess mitigation strategies, specifically highlighting the impact of Tallano Technologies' on-board retrofit filtration systems in capturing brake pollutants at the source.

Model-based development and optimisation of retrofit solutions for exhaust emissions control

In this paper, we present an efficient testing-and-modeling framework to design vehicle retrofit solutions that reduce solid particle number (SPN) emissions. Applied to a Euro 6d CNG car, our optimized coated Gasoline Particulate Filter (cGPF) achieved >90% filtration efficiency while maintaining stable engine backpressure. This scalable approach enables rapid retrofit deployment to improve urban air quality.
